I’d really like to find somewhere a comparison of the Bravia line and the Samsung “96” series. Those are my top two right now. I went into my local BigBox outlet and out of the box, the Bravia looked better in the store. But there’s no way for me to know what efforts (if any) were made to show each at its best. I always think the floor models look horrible and I certainly hope they look much better when properly calibrated at home.
On a tangent, after browsing the HDTVs, I went to a movie theater which now shows commercials from a digital projector before the previews. My question is: Why is it that there are NO discernible artifacts on the Big Screen projector, but the HDTV display models at the store had ridiculous amounts of motion and compression artifacts on all the units? I was seated about half-way down in the theater and I was standing about 8′ from the TVs.
