My Tivo (HD DirecTivo–HR10-250, upgraded to 1TB) only does recording, but that’s primarily because DirecTV didn’t implement any of the other cool features by default. I’m still working on wiring my house with cabling, so I’m not rushing to implement the hacks for web access or home media options. They’re fairly useless until you can hook it up to the network. Some are installed and awaiting the network connection, though. I did install caller ID on it, however. But, my Tivo is meant for watching TV. If I wanted to do something else, then I’d use an HTPC, but that’s about a year away yet.
If it weren’t for the limitations from DirecTV, things would probably be very different and I’d probably have 2 or 3 of them in the house.
