Been thinking more and more about how little I have used the 7″ LCD in my HTPC case. Right now it works for my setup when cloned as I have it running to a 1024×768 res projector….. but I was thiking about moving it over to my RPTV which is an older CRT HDTV that doesnt work well at that resolution
So Iwas thinking originally when I had it hooked to this TV I was using the LCD for Yahoo widgets and had the screen running @ 320×240 and had weather, a clock and other stuff on it. Every time I changed resolutions on the HTPC though it would move the widgets around and quickly became a pain.
But now with Vista there are two options.
The first is side show which I have seen minimal information on, but would like to see it working for these cases… that would just make sense….. will it happen, prob not.
The second is Vista Side Bar. I never used it, everytime I seen it I closed it out and stopped it from starting up. But I got to thinking…. The side bar is resizeable… Could it possibly be placed on the secondary display and stretched to fill the whole screen? If that is possible the next thing we would need is gadgets or widgets that pulled things like the now playing information from Vista MCE, the current volume level, a decent digital clock and so on.
While I’m not a programmer and don’t know the first thing about making these widgets or gadgets I wonder if this would be possible, it would certainly bring new life to these apparently useless 7″ monitors lol
