Just wanted to relay a warning about these cases from Antec. Having bought one two months ago I have had basically nothing but trouble with it. Which is sad since it looks good, is physically well build and have a good cooling solution. I’m trying to get some more spotlight on the problems as I haven’t found any major web sites discussing the problems. I haven’t really found any reviews of the V2/Black versions of the Fusion enclosures at all which actually seems a little odd.
The issues:
The LCD/IR module is unstable to the point of being useless.
For a lot of people (me included) the LCD and IR crashes at least once per day and the LCD requires the PC to be shut down and the power cord unplugged to recover. The problem is particularly persistent when using Sleep mode.
The LCD is close to unreadable
Antec and Soundgraph have opted for a LCD with so much blue back lighting that the display is almost unreadable. Please see http://www.insanegenius.com/fusionblack/ for examples.
The LCD/IR software is crippled
For some unknown reason Antec has decided to have Soundgraph cripple the driver and software so it only works with MCE RC6 compatible remotes and only with Windows Media Center software. It does not even work with iMons own remotes or iMon software. But although the remote is supposed to be MCE RC6 compatible several features that RC6 remotes can normally do is not supported in the Fusion version. For example, you cannot use the numeric keys as alphanumeric when using the search functionality in Media Center. You’ll need a separate keyboard for that…
Antec and Soundgraph is trying to work out the problems but have been unsuccessful for two months now and for several weeks no updates have been made by them. I am in contact with both companies.
