I’m not so sure this article is accurate with it’s final assessment. I don’t want to criticize the writer too much, but I think he was a little too lenient on the product. I would look to a powerline ethernet adapter to AT LEAST do what my wireless router/AP does, but realistically, I expect it to be better. I’ve used powerline adapters before and I found that I couldn’t even stream a YouTube video over it. I quickly went back to my wireless card. I’d like to see some additional tests to verify just what the adapter is capable of.
Also, the writer stated that security is better using this powerline adapter. Due to the technology still being in it’s infancy, this is certainly true. However, any router using WPA2 or even the original WPA is quite secure, assuming you use a secure key that wouldn’t be open to a brute force, dictionary attack.
