is there any way to get a slot loading drive into my htpc?
ignoring possible case compatibility issues, the two possible ways i can think of would be to :
1) use a standard 5.25″ bay that has slot loading already. the only drive that had this was the pioneer one from maybe 7 years ago? and is no longer in production. anyone have any leads on getting one of these?
2) convert one of the common slimline/laptop slot loading drives (panasonic makes one thats easy to get) using some sort of drive bay adaptor. The Plextor PX-DB600 seems to simply do this, but I can’t find any retail availability on it. I sort of remember seeing some sort of bay cooler that could hold slimline drives but I can’t find it anymore.
any suggestions?
