Hello all, long time lerker..but never posted 😀
im finally ready to replace my 50″ panny plasma (720p) with something a little more exciting.
I’ve been looking at two different TV’s
Sony’s KDL-52XBR4

Currently i have a HTPC hooked up to my panny and a receiver with a 7.1 speaker set up so my thoughts is that the Sony has a bunch of things i would be paying for that i wouldn’t ever use (built in tuner/stand/Speakers ect..) but i’d also have to purchase a plug-in card for the panasonic, most people say HDMI and DVI-D are the same, but i’ve had the hardest time getting anything HDMI to function properly on my panny so i could just go with a DVI plug in card.
well down to my questions,
does anyone have any input on these TV’s or something else comparable in this price range or should i be waiting for something that will come out in the next month or so. Im leaning towards the panny plasma because i was happy with my old plasma and the ability to buy add-in cards so i have the option of whatever inputs i need. the HDMI/DVI issue i had could of been just me and could prolly just purchase an HDMI card and get it to work just fine, its just that i have another 40″ samsung LCD with a analog PC input and i’ve had zero issues with overscan ect. Could be why im partial to the DVI card. 3.5k is a lot to drop on a TV and i would hate to regret my purchase so any feedback in helping me make my decision would be great!
