Hey all. This is my 1st post and I’m completely new to htpc and PC building general so please be kind.
The story so far is that after a few years of wanting to build a PC and through reading different part guides Ive finally got the resources to start the project. A friend has offered to help in my first endeavour by giving some parts to start me off (although exactly what parts he has i don’t know as they’re safely in storage ATM) and then in the future I plan to upgrade further based on budget, and performance etc.
The project is still in the planning stages tho and one area Ive found hard to get infomation on is sound cards and audio setup. A few questions on the topic:
a) What sort of thing should I look for when choosing a sound card and speakers?
b) How are your speakers and htpc set up to get the best sound quality for films/music/games?
and
c) what hardware do you recommend for being on a budget? I plan to spend about £600-£800 on the project but due to my unknown parts i cant say how much ill have left over for extras. Parts I know I’m getting are ram, monitor, graphics card and processor which is most of the project but some things may need upgraded.
My knowledge is very limited in the area of audio so any background information would be very useful.
