Ever since I started reading about those Vista MCE Netflix plug-ins with extender “Watch It Now” support i’ve been trying to figure out a way that I could get on board.
At first I was considering upgrading my SageTV server to Vista and running MCE in the background but I was very hesitant considering how well its currently working under XP. Then I considered upgrading my gaming PC but that’s a little underpowered for Vista and i’d take a pretty big performance hit in nightly TF2 sessions (Engineer FTW!).
So finally, just for fun, I decided to see if I could get away with just throwing Vista Ultimate onto a virtual machine on my Macbook, and sure enough, despite how *slowly* Vista ran on my laptop, it was good enough to enable the 360 as an extender and get “Watch It Now” working 🙂
