My wife works at a rent-to-own store and sometimes they get stuff back that people have paid on for a ridiculously long time but has decided to turn it on rather than finish paying it off so the store ends up selling it for cash for a pretty low price.  Last week she bought a Zenith 32″ LCD for $175.  I thought that was a pretty good deal.

Saturday, we went to her store and looked at another TV that they got in and was selling for $450.  It is a 44″ Zenith LCD.  The model number is E44W48LCD.  We were planning on getting it and putting in our bedroom.  But when I looked at it, I was concerned about a couple of issues.  It’s not your typical LCD; it’s not thin.  It reminds me more of a DLP depth-wise.  This LCD has a lamp in it that you can replace.  Do LCDs normally have replacement lamps?  The back of it gives off a lot of heat because of the lamp, presumably.  I know my son’s 37″ does not get hot like this.  And this TV would be going in an entertainment center so the heat concerns me.  We did not buy it, but are still considering.  I don’t believe it is that good of a deal.  What do you guys think?  I don’t see any 44″ TVs any where close to this price; even a replacement bulb is only around $120 from what I’ve seen.  Good deal, or not?
