[color=orange]I have a brand new 22” wide screen monitor for the office PC and a spare DirecTV (SD) box lying around the house. I have been thinking about turning the office PC into a quasi-HTPC by enabling satellite TV viewing on this machine for whenever there is a scheduling conflict between the missus and I over the living room TV. At 22” it will suffice nicely at 2 ½’.
Since I really don’t need the ability to record anything I’m looking for a simple “pass through” device that would allow me to feed the DirecTV signal through the PC without any sort of lag from having to read off of the HDD.
I thought about a device like the one linked below but, as I understand it, it still records to the HDD and I’d prefer to avoid that if possible.

Assuming that some sort of device or dongle doesn’t exist to simply pass TV through the PC to the monitor then I might consider getting something like a HVR-1250 and GB-PVR and just have a second HTPC in the house.
Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
