Looking for your comments/suggestions/help on my proposed HTPC build.

I have a fairly aged 2005-era HTPC running WinXP MCE with single HD Tuner.  Looking to use VMC, enable BD playback, improve stability and WAF of the entire system.  Quiet operation is important to me.  I plan to give the old HTPC to the kids for their first computer.

Plan to use it for OTA HD viewing/PVR, music, DVD/BD playback, DVD burning, internet radio, picture viewing, minimal gaming.

Here is my proposed build (Newegg):

Case Antec Fusion w/PS and IR $199
    Motherboard Asus M3N78-VM $75
    CPU AMD 4850e 2.5GHz 45W $50
    DRAM G.Skill 2 x 2GB $45
Heatsink Fan Arctic Alpine 64 $15
    HDD Samsung F1 1TB $115
    BD, DVD LG GGC-H20LK $120
HD Tuner SiliconDust HD HomeRun $169
    Vista Home Premium 32 or 64 ? $100
    Harmony Remote?
    BD Playback software?

This drives a 37″ Westy LCD 1080p – DVI (need AnyDVD HD to do BD I believe?)

    Anything I’m missing?

Any good reason to use 64bit Vista, except for mem size ?

Any BD playback issues using the IGP (Nvidia 8200) and AMD 4850e ?

    Any other issues ?

I plan to drive an older Onkyo Receiver that has SPDIF or analog in.  Some previous posts suggest that Analog In may be the best bet for BD playback.

Thanks for sharing your wisdom!  🙂
