So. Tonight I installed the new Xbox Dashboard.
Initial impressions are that the avatars are far too similar to Mii’s. I don’t really see the need for them, but I suppose it freshens up everything with a childish Wii like atmosphere.
I don’t fully care for the new layout, while visually appealing and simple in overall use it just seems like too many things to scroll through even if I can see where I want to go. I do like the speed in which things load now as opposed to the previous blade days.
Finally the Netflix streaming. I have to say I am truly impressed with the ease of setup and use in system. I would like to be able to add movies on the Xbox instead of in my queue on the website (I suppose my HTPC will take care of that soon). HD video looked pretty good. I can’t say that it looked Blue-Ray good but pretty good considering it is streaming.
I am very pleased with what they have come up with and hope they continue to make it even more user friendly.
