I’ve been constantly reading your guys website and it is just filled with great information on building a HTPC.  There is much more to it than I could have ever imagined.  I’ve built plenty of PC’s before but never a HTPC which doesnt appear to be too different other than a few cards.

So far this is what I’m going to attempt to put together.  Not too set on a case yet but this is what I’ve chosen at this point.  I’m looking to build a HTPC thats under 800$ roughly.  Not really looking for the BD yet, that will be a future upgrade, waiting for BD to really take off before I make that small investment.  I will be using it for playing DVD’s, listening to music, recording TV (hopefully HD channels), surfing the net occasionally.  All the basics pretty much wont be doing anything special yet.  I also have a NAS system set up with music and enough space to stream/save movies.

Video Card – ATI All in Wonder 3650
    HD – SeaGate 1t 16mb cache
Case – Thermal Take Bach Media Lab ATX
network – Dlink PCI wireless card
Keyboard/remote – DiNovo Mini from logitech

I havent decided on a motherboard processor yet, i’m looking at getting a phenom processor and atleast 2-4 gig of memory.  I will be using Vista Ultimate MC.  Any suggestions?  Im’ still learning about the cable hook up so as of now I was going to split my cable to have one going to my cable box and one going to the HTPC since I will only be able to view certain HD channels from my understanding.  Thanks for your help.
