Tonight I thought I’d give one of the digital copies a try that was included with one of the blurays that I have…just to see what it was like and how it worked.  I chose The Forbidden Kingdom at random and took it to my “main” PC.  After putting the disc in, the menu came up to choose the Windows version or the iTunes version.  I chose Windows and then it comes up saying I needed to update the security of Media Player.  OK.  So I click the link and it goes to the web page and tells me to click on the “Upgrade” button.  Only the Upgrade button is grayed out; I can’t click on it.  So then I decide to go to my laptop and give it a try.  I get the same thing, only that when I go to the webpage, I can at least click on the upgrade button.  But when I do, after a minute or so I realize something’s wrong.  Sure enough, I bring up Task Manager and it’s locked up and I have to “End Task”.  So my last try is to do the iTunes version.  Everything seems to be going like it should, only as I get deeper into it the more crap I have to do.  I have to log into iTunes using my AOL screenname (which I had forgotten since I haven’t used it in so long); then it starts asking me for credit card information.  Finally I’ve had enough and I just cancel the process.  Enough already.  This is supposed to be a convenience?  Thank goodness I was just messing around and didn’t really need to get it working.  They wonder why people download stuff?  I guess if I ever need a version besides the bluray, I can just download a ripped version and when they come knockin’ on the door I’ll show ’em my code, and say, “But I was entitled to a free digital copy!”
