    I’m running SageTV and an HD-PVR and all my recordings are in .TS files and I believe they’re MPEG-2, based on [url=http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/how_to_play_ts_files.cfm]this article[/url].  If you use the Arcsoft software for recording, that uses M2TS or TS, but I still believe that’s MPEG-2.  I do record in AC3, so perhaps the audio encoding affects the format?
