I was wondering what decoder(s) you all use in your Media Center software? I was reading about the problems with the 9.2 drivers and the 780g board and the different links and descriptions of the problem, and it made me think about the problems I run into with different decoders. I use Cyberlink’s decoder for both DVD and Video in SageTV. For SD, the quality is not that great, especially on SD digital channels. But it is the only decoder (that I have) that works for HD (OTA) playback. I tried using Arcsoft’s decoder, but playback is very jittery. I don’t want to constantly change decoders, so I just stick with Cyberlink. Does anyone use the Arcsoft decoder for HD playback successfully, particularly with SageTV?
2nd question, what the heck do you have to do to get VMR9 working in SageTV? I use it for DVD and thought it was fine, but recently have noticed some issues while watching Smallville. For video (like recorded or live TV), it’s totally unusable. I use XP, have a 2600xt, 1 gb RAM, and an E6600. On my SageTV Client, which is actually my main PC, I HAVE to use VMR9 for everything or else I can’t see a picture (I use a dual monitor setup). That PC runs Vista 32bit, an 8800GTS 512, 2 gb RAM, and an x2 4800. Both PC’s are “fast” PC’s that should have no problem with VMR9, so the problem HAS to lie with SageTV. But there’s people that use VMR9 in SageTV, right? What’s the trick?
