OK, I’m sort of fed up with this problem now, and I’ve decided to do something about this. I have a DVR and HTPC each feeding my Sharp LCD via their own HDMI output. If I switch the input on the display to the DVR, the display shows instantly. After some time, if I switch back to the HTPC on the TV’s input selector, the desktop is not visible (nor any apps). Mouse movement or keyboard strokes does not restore the display. My only solution at the moment is to put the HTPC into standby and immediately wake it up again.
I’ve disabled screensaver and disabled the auto-shutdown of the video card in the power profile. Is there anything I might be overlooking or potentially an app that might keep the video card output alive?
