Ok my specs first,
Asus P6T Deluxe v2
Core i7 920
Saphire 4670 fanless
AverMedia A180
3 GB Corsair memory
Win7 Ult x86
So I am building this to become an cable card MC with a HD movie library with ripped Blu-ray and some HD-DVDs I still have. I will use the mkv and lossless flac route to rip my disks and I want a minimal setup with installing only the things I will need to play my desired files. I loaded the OS and installed all the updates, first drivers then windows updates and a driver for the 4670 installs and is very functional except for HDMI Audio, 2 channel works just fine but I need 7.1 LPCM. On first loading the OS I tried watching a SD-DVD because the OS should play that just fine without any additional codecs or software, and it plays just fine in WMP and WMC. So now I want to configure my audio and I install the 9.1 Cat drivers from off of ATI’s website and I now have 7.1 audio so I try to play the same DVD again and it plays perfectly in WMP but then I launch WMC and when I try to play the disk it will start to play then stutter and stop a couple of seconds in and give me the blue screen with a message that the files needed to play this are either not installed or not working properly, please restart media center. This is just a regular DVD being played from the disk itself, is it the Cataylist drivers? What did I do wrong? I can’t find any earlier versions of the driver on ATI”s website to try, I hope this is known and someone has a solution. I do not want to have to install any codec packs, it should all work built in.
Thanks for any help you guys and gals can be.
