The only thing that matters to me is which one sounds better to my ears. ;D (That’s a joke… I know they should all be identical.) I’ve had many issues with playback through ffdshow, so I tend to steer clear of it. On an HTPC, processing power is usually somewhat limited because people are going for quiet/silent, so using ffdshow may not be feasible for a number of people. It is an interesting comparison, though.
