I was killing time Wednesday in the mall so I went in Sears to look around. I happened to notice a TV playing Monsters vs. Aliens. My first thought was, “Boy, that TV looks terrible! What’s wrong with it?” It looked blurry and stretched. I thought maybe it had been on too long or something. Then I realized it was a 3D TV, so I grabbed the glasses out of the display and turned them on to see what things were like. Wow! The depth was incredible. And it wasn’t blurry or fuzzy or weird colors like I’m used to with 3D. It wasn’t anything like I imagined. It was pretty neat. But with all that being said, I’m still not sure if it’s going to be “the next big thing”. It was neat, sure, but it just doesn’t feel like something I have to have, unlike when HDTV started. And I still don’t think I would like to watch the whole movie with the glasses. My next TV may very well have 3D capability, but it will be because by that time it may be standard not because it’s a desired feature for me.
