    Interesting.  So, VP8 is pretty close in quality to h.264, but none of our current hardware decoders will support it. 

    Above all, I think the mass market adoption of h.246 will really put the hurt on VP8 unless current decoders can get a firmware update to support VP8.  I really don’t want to have to buy new video cards, phones, and set top boxes to play youtube video that I can already play today.

    I was hoping we were all done with the codec wars and h.264 won.  We just now got near universal support and now it starts all over again.
