Okay, I may just have to watch Losers now.  Of the releases I’ve actually seen here, I’d go with Tin Man.  Syfy has been making some pretty decent mini-series’ lately and Tin Man was one of them.  The parallels with the “real” Wizard of Oz are few and far between.  Let’s put it this way:  if you were to try and sum up the entire original Wizard of Oz in just a few sentences, that’s about where the similarities end.  Overall, I was surprised at how impressed I was with Syfy’s take on the material, as was the wife.  (Note:  My wife and I have extremely similar taste, so that’s not much of a surprise.)

hrmmm…i’ll have to check out the Tin Man.

But definitely give Losers an open mind when you watch it. I mean, take it for exactly what it is–an action packed joy ride. I was *stunned* when my gf enjoyed it so much

We watched the preview for Losers and it did have its moments, so I’m definitely open to it.  The remade A-Team, on the other hand, I have my doubts about, but also did hear/read some good things about it, so I may need to suck it up and give it a chance.  My biggest issue with that is my disdain for Rampage Jackson (B.A.).

If you can watch Tin Man with an open mind, I can watch Losers with an open mind.  ;D

I saw the A-Team in theaters, it’s extremely campy and over the top. Also, it’s PG-13, which I think hurt it a bit since it was 99% action and a lot of the scenes they sort of cut away for the “violent” part.

Don’t expect much and you won’t be disappointed. The plot is pretty predictable and simplistic, the acting is mediocre, and the action scenes ridiculous. Which means if you were a fan of the original show, you can probably tolerate all of that and enjoy the movie.

It surprises me to hear you say the A-Team movie was “campy”.  I haven’t seen it yet, but from the previews it looked like it took its self more serious than the TV show, especially when I read that Mr. T wasn’t happy with the movie because there was killing and sexual scenes (?, I’m pretty sure I read that).  His comments are kind of funny though, considering they used machine guns and explosives.  Apparently as long as it’s just cover fire or no one actually got hit by the bullet or killed by the explosive it was OK.  And you can fight as long as the people are able to walk away.  Kind of reminded me of the G.I. Joe cartoon where there’s all this shooting but no one ever got hit, or the air craft would get hit and the pilots would safely parachute out.

OK, maybe I can agree it did take itself a little more seriously than the show. But that’s still not much at all. And unlike the show, it wasn’t like they went out of their way not to kill anyone… it was just that in some scenes they weren’t fighting people. Like, there’s a scene with Hannibal and dogs. Or the scene from the previews where you see Face shooting out of a falling tank… at a UAV. But there was no actual “don’t kill anybody” rule in this. There was killing but you don’t see it up close (the PG-13 factor).  I also don’t recall there being any sex scenes at all.

So against our better judgement we took Mike’s Top Pick and rented The Losers…my wife and I really enjoyed it.  I can see why it didn’t do well in the theaters but it is a perfect lazy Saturday action packed movie.
