I’ve been running TMT3 for nearly a year now and from the beginning I thought it displayed too dark of a picture.  I figured I could just go into the setup durning the movie and brighten it but there are no brightness options in setup while a movie is playing.  So my question is, “how can I brighten up the picture?”  None of the changes that I made to TMT3 outside of Vista Media Center hold while a movie is playing so I am at a loss as to how to correct this.

I am currently running a Geforce 9400 GT but I have a ATI 5550 ready to go once Monoprice sends me a new HD Fury 2 since the first one they sent me was defective.

Are you using a hdmi connection?

If so, you will get a better image quality with the 5550, because you will be able to send the signal in YCbCr and change the RGB limits. That will correct the dark picture.

No, I can’t use HDMI until I get a working HD Fury2 which I will (most likely) connect to the TV’s VGA port.

The Nvidia driver allows for you to override the video levels which may be the reason why TMT is too dark in your configuration.

If you haven’t already, you might want to check out our new calibration guide we just published today:
