I have been dealing with and trying to fix BR stuttering for a year, getting ready to throw in the towel!

Blu-ray Stuttering / Slow MyMovies: (not always, but often enough), DVD works perfect. Recorded TV works great(stored on WHS)!

    Gear:

WHS: AMD dual core, 4 GB, ECS mb, 6 1.5 WD Green drives

    W7 Movie Server: E6600 Quad Core, 6gb, 8 2tb EARS drives

HTPC: icore 5-650, 8 gb, intel D57DD, X-25 SSD, 1.5tb WD Green, Ceton,   Analog TV Tuner, 2 HDHomerun ATSC(4 tuners), MyMovies, TMT5, AnyDVD HD, Virtual Clone, concurrent logins/sessions, MyChannelLogos, MCEBackup 3.0, MS Security Essentials, WHS connector/Media Connector, MSStudio, AutoHothey, MoveTVMovies, couple of other MC programs. (No reltek audio installed, just using Intel GPU audio). HTPC only, no other uses.

    Extender: 1 xbox360

(Will be here soon: Crucial SSD 300, 12 gb, new power supply, WD 2tb EURS drive (recorded TV) and intel H67 mb / icore 2600K when available, but might rethink my hobby before getting CPU & MB!)

    Fixes tried.

    1. Rebuilt HTPC and WHS countless times

    2. WHS = Demigrator = disabled with batch file on/off

(Rebuilt HTPC and WHS countless times)

    3. EARS drives (left at AF settings) = Built win7 Movie Server

    (Rebuilt HTPC times)

    4. NIC = replaced ASUS Realtek NIC board with Intel board

    (Rebuilt HTPC countless times)

LanSpeedTest: All is well (GB / Cat6 network (24 port rackmount switch, default settings, dont know what settings to change, switch or machines))

    (Rebuilt HTPC countless times)

    Yesterday

    Rebuilt HTPC yesterday

MS Network Throttling = set to FFFFFFFF on HTPC and W7Server (HTPC last night, tested, audio drop outs/freezing/stuttering W7 Movies Server today, still to test)

    Still to try:

SSD drive = drivers and sata port (3/6) Not researched (Intel X-25, intel H57DD MB)
Virtual Clone = Agrssive I/O Buffering (Not researched but tried)

Out of things to try, any thoughts?

    Thanks

    Jeff

So I assume the BR is stored on the W7 Movie Server and you’re trying to watch them on the HTPC.  Do the videos have the same issue if watched dirrectly on the HTPC?  My back of the head thought is a stand alone video card to offload everything.  I’m not familiar with the ‘intel D57DD’ (google didn’t return anything on it), so I just wonder if it might be the bottleneck.

Yep, Movies on W7 Server, watch on HTPC. sorry “H57DD intel board”. I know the i5-650 will handle the video so it’s has to be something else.

Testing this morning since changing throttling on W7 Server, and so far looks promising. Will have to see how it goes the next few days.

        Thanks

i think the previous posters question was, if you copy a Blu-ray from your server to the actual client system, does it all play OK? reason for asking, is if the answer is 100% yes, then that helps you isolate what could be going on (whether its network which i assume, or the server itself)

Yeah, that’s what I meant.  I was thinking along the lines of typical debugging where one isolates the issue and works from there.  Then I went off on the video card tangent because I had an issue with a video card that should’ve been more than powerful enough but had occasional stuttering and an upgrade fixed it.

Today with throttling off on W7Server and HTPC, so far looks promising. We will see over the next few days.

I’ll give that a go. Reason I haven’t before, is sometimes the Blurays play fine. Other times, no… So I have been concentrating on the connection

              Thanks
