I recently upgrading my sound system to one that has HDMI inputs and pass-through on it. So my wiring now goes from the HTPC to the receiver to the TV. Since then, about 10% of the time when coming out of standby, my computer would get confused and the HDMI audio wouldn’t work. It would then turn into a series of turning the TV and receiver on and off trying to get the computer to eventually form a proper handshake and the audio to fix itself. I tracked down a program, HDMIYO, that after a set time delay on resume (or on a defined key press) will force the computer to redo the HDMI handshake. It’s fixed the issue for me and I thought I’d pass on this tip in case anyone else runs into the same issue.
