Had a weird problem today that was a bit upsetting, I’m running WMC7 with a Ceton PCIe card.  I watched a little TV this morning and early this afternoon, watched a bunch of shows off my DVR and then shut everything off to go play some xbox (I run all my TV watching through my XBOX).  I come back up and turn on the TV after about 3-4 hours or so and it says I have to setup live TV.  So go to my PC and reconfigure so WMC sees the tuners again, come back up and notice nothing is recording go to check the schedule and EVERYTHING is gone.  Somehow the PC must have glitched or something and lost all my saved series recordings.  PC seemed fine it was still running and didn’t have to do a restart or anything like that.

Any ideas what the problem might be, kind of sick to my stomach that I lost my 100 saved shows for recording.

      Have you tried System Restore?

I believe that Setting up Live TV will wipe out your scehduled recording settings. Perhaps System Restore can bring back your original schedule by returning to an earlier date.

One glitch I’ve noticed with the Ceton PCIe tuner is that infrequently and at random, I’ll see a message that says something like “New CableCard found…” – I’ve learned to ignore this message, do a reboot and everything will be fine.

Generally, you should only lose the series recordings when resetting or wiping out the WMC database somehow. This is not typically something that will be done without some intent. Perhaps there has been some disk corruption or something else and the WMC database file was an unlucky victim. A prior backup or system restore should bring things back to normal.
