Anyone know the setting to stop WMC from shrinking in size to center of the screen.  I have to minimize then maximize to return to full screen.  My upstairs tv does not do this.

    Thanks in advance!

Sounds like an HDCP handshake issue to me.  (meaning, the mediacenter pc’s video card is losing a secure connection to the tv — possibly due to turning off the tv, av receiver, or the pc going to sleep mode)… when this happens, certain display/drivers will “reset” the resolution & overscan settings, thus appearing to “shrink” the mediacenter when you wake it up.

agreed, mine does the same thing. Ive always thought of it as partially a bug in WMC, and partially my budget television. If you leave the computer at the desktop it won’t do it so 7mc has to be involved but I also think its just that when the TV is turning on its not telling media center what resolution it needs fast enough. I might try an HDMI detective to see if that fixes it, but its an expensive fix (compared to my current solution: map alt-enter to a remote key)

Any ideas for solutions? I have the same set up upstairs with out any issues.

As mentioned, a possible solution that does fix problems like this for good is to purchase the HDMI Detective made by Gefen. Basically, it tells your video card that the TV is on and keeps it set at the proper resolution. I know…nobody truly wants to resort to paying $80 to fix a problem that shouldn’t be there in the first place, but plenty of people will tell you how glad they are to have purchased the device to eliminate silly headaches like you’ve encountered.
