Aeotec Z-Wave Water Sensor 6 now available
It’s a great idea to add water/flood monitoring into your home automation system. It can make a huge difference between a bad thing, and a catastrophe. This $60 Z-Wave sensor from Aeotec looks pretty nice, and includes vibration and temperature sensors as well as watching for H20.
Monitor a home. Water Sensor 6 can detect minuscule amounts of water – as little as 0.5mm / 0.02” of water. That makes it capable of detecting floods, leaks, pipe bursts, and overflows.
Protect a home. When it detects an emergency, it acts with Water Sensor 6 capable of triggering connected Z-Wave devices such as cut off valves, sirens, and pump sumps.
Protect more areas in the home. Using the sensor’s pro-installer tool Dock, Water Sensor 6 can monitor multiple areas to see if they’re wet or dry, and can be enhanced to utilise mains power instead of batteries.
Enhance a home. Its 4 gold tipped water probes actively monitor for leaks and drips, but Water Sensor 6 can manage more of a home through its inbuilt temperature sensor. Crafted for heating management, it monitors temperatures between -20ºC and 100ºC (-4ºF to 212ºF).
