News - NETGEAR announces Arlo Pro

If you liked the original Arlo, you will love the updated "Pro" model. Which adds rechargable batteries and 2-way audio. Very slick.

News - NETGEAR Arlo may need security school

It looks like the NETGEAR Arlo monitoring cameras have a security issue where other people can view your cameras. Based on the description on reddit, it looks like it should be reasonably difficult to accidently reproduce, but if it does NETGEAR needs to get on that quickly.

Update: NETGEAR responds...

News - NETGEAR Arlo now supports IFTTT

One of my main complaints about NETGEAR's Arlo cameras was that they weren't able to interact with a larger home ecosystem when it got reviewed here about a year ago. Happily, this is no longer the case with the system now able to interact with the IFTTT (If This Then That) service. I haven't had a chance to play with it yet (just found out), but it is fantastic news. A great way to pull the Arlo out of its silo and make the devices act as sensors for a smarter home.

News - NETGEAR Announces Arlo Q Plus Camera

NETGEAR is rapidly expanding their Arlo suite of monitoring products, now with a power over Ethernet (PoE) model targeted at small business. The NETGEAR Arlo Q Plus carries a SRP of $250/camera you get seven days of rolling recording accessible via the mobile app or web. PoE isn't a requirement, and there is flexibilty in connectivity as well with standard Ethernet or Wi-Fi also available. Be prepared to wait a bit if you want one though; US should see them in May and ROW in June sometime.

News - NETGEAR Costumes Arlo

If I'm honest, my first impression wasn't kind to the idea of skins for an Arlo camera, but after thinking on it a bit I've really come around to the idea. One of the drawbacks to the device is that you can have any color you want, as long as it's shiny and white - this changes that. Whether you want a bit more discression, contrast, or just want a nice costume for your camera Smile. Although, I am disappointed that there's no orange option.

News - NETGEAR Announces Arlo Q Camera

NETGEAR had a hit with the initial Arlo wireless cameras, but one of the limitations of the device was that as it relied on batteries continuous recording was a bit out of bounds. The Arlo Q resolves this issue, and ads two-way audio to the mix; making it perfect for monitoring entrances. Of course to do this, AC power is required, so you will give up some of the flexibility  that the original spec sported.

News - NETGEAR @ CES 2015

NETGEAR had a lot to show at CES this year besides routers, and we ended up skipping those because with the rapid release schedule (AC3200 & AC2400 launched earlier) there wasn’t anything new. That’s not to say that they’ve been standing still in the networking space with several new product to enable more bandwidth around the house.

News - NETGEAR Announces Arlo Smart Home Security Kit (VMS3230)

NETGEAR arlo

The rapid expansion of products in the Home Automation (HA) space this year has been amazing. As the “Internet of Things” gains ground, OEMs who have only dabbled in the past are focusing more on delivering holistic solutions. Today, NETGEAR becomes one of these vendors with their Arlo product line. Currently this only manifests as wireless video monitoring solution that leverages an 802.11N base station (hub) to provide the link between local cameras and Cloud (aka remote Internet) based  monitoring intelligence, but should expand over time to incorporate more of what we expect from a true HA system.
