Blu-ray Releases – September 13, 2011
Poor Thor, if it was most any other week you would have been the easy pick, but alas not this one. For those not in the comic book “know,” Thor is a movie based on the same-titled comic book about a guy who’s a god in his world but gets shipped off to Earth as punishment (is it that bad?!) where he gets to date Natalie Portman, poor guy. Then battles ensue–it was a fun movie and will look awesome on BD. Then the other notable one is Spartacus–Gods of the Arena, the prequel to the Spartacus TV series which was just awesome.

I dunno. While I was a fan of the original Star Wars movies, all the changes and my perspective have changed. I definitely don’t see a place on the shelf for this set.
I tried watching Episode I and I made it through 10 minutes before shutting it off and cursing 🙁 That was my final straw with anything to do with Star Wars EVER.
I think I’d have picked Thor
I think I’d have picked Thor just to spite Lucas for his changes
That said, they’ll both probably end up sharing shelf space at my house.

What can I say? As soon as I saw that Jar Jar whatever his name was, that was it. I simply couldn’t bear to watch the rest of that travesty and it completely soured me. The added changes only served to solidify my non-interest.

I enjoyed Thor in the theater and am looking forward to seeing it again. It was a lot of fun, actually, it was a really good summer all around for comic book movies.
As for Star Wars, meh, I’ll stick with my VHS original copies and DVDs for now. Lucas is working on the 3D releases due out in theaters soon (with even more changes and extra scenes). I figure I might as well wait for those on Blu-ray at this point, I’m stuck with his changes either way, no reason to pay him twice.

I think that the “noooo” is ridiculous and Lucas should leave well enough alone. In fact, I even cancelled my pre-order because of it. However, while I did enjoy Thor quite a bit, I think the story that took place on earth was cobbled together, too quickly paced, and had barely any depth to it.
Based on that, I still think Star Wars was the correct choice.
Skipping Star Wars because of
Skipping Star Wars because of Lucas’s “tinkering”. I saw Thor in the theaters and won’t be buying it either.
I will however get “O’ Brother, Where Art Thou?” on blu-ray. That movie is genius.
