Is it too early to be excited about CES?

I've never actually gone to the show myself (though 2 yrs ago I was in Vegas at the same time for a wedding. The AVN awards were that week too haha). But lately I keep finding myself thinking about it and all the coverage that is a mere 3 weeks away. It makes me giddy. I think I have a problem.

MUST... HAVE MORE... INFO... ON NEW TOYS!!! Not that I can ever afford anything. Wink

I was there last year with HTPCnews.com. I can tell you its a LOT of walking in a few days. Anything you see at CES is at a minimum 6 months to a year a way anyways. It was pretty cool to meet a lot of the people I had been emailing over the years.

The release time frame doesn't bother me. I'm more interested in seeing all the upcoming technology, not when it actually comes out. Hell, a lot of stuff I'd looked forward to after seeing CES coverage never came out at all. But there's bound to be a bunch of stuff that's got a shorter release time frame, like Vista MCE machines with cablecards, and extenders. And I'm also interested in Windows Mobile 6 stuff... that should hit by Q2 2007.

Seeing all the new HDTV's is always fun too.

Yeah I'm always excited for CES, I wish I had been able to go with the guys at HTPCnews last year, but alas it wasn't to be.

Well there you have it...an idea for a Missing Remote giveaway.

Maybe some benevolent sponsor would like to donate two passes to next year's CES to a lucky winner and their spouse/friend/niece.

How does one go about getting passes to CES?  Are they for sale?

No, CES is for people in the C.E. industry. You have to be part of the press or affiliated with a vendor of products. The passes do cost money, but you also have enroll and provide proof you have a legitamate reason to be allowed in to CES.
