I’ve been all over the internet trying to solve this problem.  I’m trying to get my nvidia 8600gt to output 1080p over component.  To save time, let me summarize some of the “facts” I’ve gathered.

    – Component DOES technically support 1080p.  Your tv and input source must support it.  My tv does.
    – HDCP requires that 1080p content only be playable via HDMI.  Lower resolutions are allowed over other connections.  (Damn you Hollywood!)

So fiddling with the nvidia control panel, I am able to set custom resolutions for any display.  Theres a lot of advanced settings in there that I don’t really understand.  I was wondering if anyone had managed to get 1080p stable on their nvidia card.  (I also have a G92 8800GT that I can drop in if necssary.)

I don’t care if the solution disables HDCP since I won’t be using blu-ray on my PCs any time soon.  Also, before you suggest just switching to HDMI, let me just explain that I am not able to do that without spending a hefty chunk of change replacing parts for other devices.

Thanks for any help you can give me.
