I knew the 160Gb ATA would be a bottleneck but after reading this article I’m depressed. Although I think that once you have your files on the server you won’t be hitting that drive heavily with huge amounts of data. Worse case scenario for me is ripping a BD movie at 40 gigs over to the server.

I just checked my transfer rate and I am getting about 40MB a sec. I don’t consider that bad. And it is half way thru moving 630 gig over. so I would have hit that point where the local drive had to flush its temporary buffer and offload the files to the additional drives.
