I’m just about ready to pull the trigger on purchasing a Ceton InfiniTV 4 Quad-tuner Card.
My question is on activation & pairing.I need to do a new build on my HTPC and wanted to get in on
the lowered price of the Centon InfiniTV 4 Quad-tuner.
It will be several months until I rebuild my older HTPC.
see my forum signature on the current machine I will be swapping out. Will I run into an issue if I get Verizon Fios to send me out
a cable card and pair it to my existing Windows 7 PC for testing?
I later want to move it to a new build HTPC.Thank you in advance for your reply
June 10, 2011 at 10:46 pm #30295mikinhoA CableCARD is paired to an InfiniTV, not the PC. So you won’t have any issues.
Also, depending on your FiOS region, FiOS may not pair at all.

Thank you Michael for your quick reply
Verizon FIOS MassachusettsJune 11, 2011 at 4:44 pm #30300johnw248So far it seems that only those areas purchased by Frontier have started pairing cableCARDS with Host Devices. In most Verizon operated areas (but not all) they authorize just the card and you can move it between host devices (tv set/tivo/ATI DCT/Ceton InfiniTV4/SD HomeRun Prime).
June 13, 2011 at 3:17 pm #30307frijonesI ran into this scenario recently. I live in MA and had the InfiniTV installed in a new Win7 machine. Got everything setup and then the motherboard died. So I built another new machine, moved the InfiniTV over and it worked just fine. YMMV though.
June 13, 2011 at 4:50 pm #30308PAPutzbackSo they give you the card presynched to their systems. I’ve always driven directly to Comcast and swapped my gear at their shop and then hooked it up at home and made a phone call and read of the numbers on the device. Has that step been overcome? I am debating on getting a CETON to put in my WHS 2011 and want the least hassle as possible.

Comcast still requires pairing and doubtful that will change. It is only Verizon FiOS and few smaller companies that do not pair. They pre-activate the CableCARDs for their networks and leave it at that.
June 15, 2011 at 12:06 am #30320Night RiderI received my Ceton InfiniTV 4 Quad-tuner Card today.
Now to deal with FIOS customer service reps.June 15, 2011 at 4:38 pm #303213rob3I live in an area with a small local cable company (Armstrong Cable). I removed the cablecard from my ATI tuner into the Ceton and everything worked fine. No re-pairing necessary. For some reason I even get more channels now (digitals from a tier I didn’t get with the ATI)!
June 18, 2011 at 6:55 pm #30338Night RiderI picked up the M-Card from Verizon FIOS this afternoon.
Fairly straight forward in getting the cablecard authorized with Verizon FIOS.- I Followed the ceton infiniTV 4 Quick installation guide provided with the card. InfiniTV 4 Quick Installation
- Downloaded the most recent version of the Ceton InfiniTV4 installer software
- Ran the Digital Cable Advisor Tool
- Authorized the FIOS cablecard via this site:
http://www22.verizon.com/fiostv/selfinstall/ - Setup Windows Media Center for TV
The only odd thing that I had encountered was in the
TV setup portion of Media Center.
At the Activate support for digital cable screen
you are prompted for a activation key.Message shown on screen:
To view and record premium or high definition TV channels you must
enter a product key. Select next to enter your product key.Prompted by Media Center with this …
“The product key to enable support for digital cable
is not the same product key to activate windows.”What exactly is required here?
Be advised that the card is working and I receive
all SD and HD channels with the Ceton InfiniTV4 & Fios M-CardJune 18, 2011 at 7:40 pm #30339mikinhoBasically if you have a motherboard that was OCUR enabled in the BIOS the DCA will not auto-populate the key so you need to manually enter it.

June 19, 2011 at 6:37 pm #30342Night RiderRan into an issue with the card Saturday while setting up network tuners.
Device manager shows the card under network adapters just fine. The Ceton diagnostic tool can not find the card
as it can not see the firmware or hardware version.I have issued a support ticket on Ceton’s support page.
I just purchased the Ceton InfiniTV 4 card.
The card was working with my Verizon Fios cablecard today.
Tonight when I start up my Windows 7 PC the card
1. Blinks blue several times at Bios post
2. Solid red lights during post
3. Blinks blue lights after post.Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
Asus Rampage formula III
Centon card installed in PCIe slot
Ceton InfiniTV 4 diagnostic tool does not see the card.

in order to use network tunersusing a A 860Mhz Low Pass Filter (LPF)
June 19, 2011 at 9:40 pm #30343Night RiderI believe this is a firewall issue.
I will review this guide.
