I have an HTPC and a myriad of tuners I have collected over the years, they are all PCI, not express, and my build has an intel MB with 2 PCI and 2 PCI express.
I think the tuner I should get is the Avermedia 780 (x2) but want to confirm with those of you smarter and more experienced than I.
I have a digital antenna – so I have an OTA digital feed. I have Comcast, and currently one digital set top box. Here is what I would like to do:
Have 2 dual tuners. Each tuner would have OTA in and a Comcast digital set top box (I’d get another one). Here are the questions:
– Would I be able to record 4x at once (2 digital, 2 analog), I think so
– Would I be able to record QAM? Does QAM work through the analog or digital tuner? In other words, If I use the digital tuner for OTA, can I still do QAM? I really don’t understand QAM at all.
– My mobo has PCI-E x 16 slots. This is PCI-E x1 – will this tuner even work with my MOBO?
– Is this the best tuner for this? I’m out of touch on tuners right now. I was waiting to see about DirectTV, but we got hosed on that. For 90 bucks each I’ll make this work for a while.
