While this isn’t HPTC related, per se, anyone who has tried to play Baldur’s Gate or Planescape: Torment on a big screen TV, knows how horrible the games look.  Ars-Technica published an article detailing Jon’s quest to play these old games in a portable fashion, using a Samsung tablet PC.  Just a bit expensive to be doing that, IMHO, however…

While reading the article, he mentioned a widescreen mod which allows you to play the game at just about any resolution, including widescreen.  To give you an idea of just how impressive it is going from a game which was originally released and played at just 640×480, here’s Planescape: Torment at 1650×1080.

If you’ve ever tried to play one of these games on a modern LCD screen, you know how painful it is.  Stretching the image is utter horror.  When my 21″ CRT was replaced with a 20″ LCD, I couldn’t bring myself to continue playing Baldur’s Gate.  This mod may very well bring me back.
