4 of us went to see this yesterday.  Warning:  3 of us experienced motion sickness… the 3 who normally do NOT suffer from it, mind you!  I made it about half way through the movie before I had to start looking away due to nausea.  No major spoilers here.

As far as the story goes, I think they actually did a pretty good job.  They did exactly what they set out to do…  a low budget, suspenseful, action-packed monster flick.  There are really only a handful of calm moments.  Once you get past the beginning character development–which I damn near walked out of the theater because of how long it took–the rest of the movie is pretty enjoyable.

Acting was surprisingly good, given the new faces.  The guy holding the camera definitely gets on your nerves, but the writers do a good job of making fun of him toward the end and explaining the reason for his dialog.  Truth be told, if he didn’t keep talking, the majority of the movie would be damn near silent.  Which brings me to…

There’s no friggin’ soundtrack!  As we were walking out, we realized there was absolutely NO music at all; nothing during the opening credits, no dramatic background music, no end credit track.  That said… it worked… very well!  We didn’t even realize until the end.

Overall, you probably don’t need to see it on the big screen and that will most likely save you from any motion sickness.  But, it was a pretty good story and it did keep you guessing and really pulling for the characters…  until Mr.  Macho-Moron decides to go back…  again.  At that point, I just wanted him dead.

Good?  Yes.  Blockbuster?  No.  Worth $10?  Not quite.  Maybe a matinee.  Highlight?  New Star Trek movie sneak-peak preview.
