Today I recorded a cartoon from satellite on my HTPC that I thought my son might want to watch; it’s running SageTV. Tonight I tried to play it on his PC (with PowerDVD), and I got video but no sound. So I tried playing it with MCE on his PC with the same result. I tried other videos that’s on my HTPC on his PC and they played OK. I didn’t try every one, but I did find another video that did the same thing. There’s nothing in common between the 2 videos, the one today was recorded from satellite and the other that played no audio was recorded from one of the local digital channels from the antenna. Everything that’s recorded with Sage is recorded with the same quality settings. They’re all mpeg2 video. So what reason would audio not play on a particular video? These same shows play fine on my HTPC. He has onboard audio on his Gigabyte motherboard. I don’t know what’s up. It seems pretty “freakish” in that other videos play fine and these 2 don’t, but all play fine on my own. I was playing these over the network, but I don’t think that would have anything to do with it since, like I said, I didn’t have trouble with other videos.
