converting recorded shows

      So I’ve got a lot of SDTV shows saved that are taking a lot of space, and was wondering what everyone does to compress them.  I’m using SageTV, and most are recorded at DVDlongplay (mpg format).  They are moslty cartoons my son likes to watch and rewatch (dora, batman, etc).
