Im trying to convert old vhs tapes to dvd and ran into some trouble. My plan was to use my Sage box to capture the content from the tapes and then burn to dvd using evil penguin’s dvd tools sage plugin. My box uses a nvidia dualtv tuner configured to capture from 2 stb’s via s-video. i tried adding a new source also using a tuner off of the dualtv using the rf input. i realize that gives me 3 sources and only 2 tuners, but i didnt want to mess with my existing source setup. i was hoping that as long as one of the tuners was free it wouldnt matter, but it didnt seem to like it.
my next attempt was to dig an old ati tv wonder out of the closet and put that in my box. sage doesnt appear to support that card so im thinking that my plan of using sage isnt going to work out.
i took a quick look over at the AVS forums to see what tools are available to capture from the ati card and found some that look like they might work (virtualdub and virtualvcr). Both list the ati card in their device list when i load them but i wasnt able to get much further than that.
Does any have any experience converting vhs to dvd? Im hoping that im making this much more difficult than it has to be. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
thanks
