😮 I guess I had a stroke over the weekend…
I actually stopped “just looking” and ordered one. Two things helped push me over the edge: I found the HC5500 for $1825.00 – AND – Mitsubishi has a $500.00 rebate on this projector (again). $1,325.00 for a 1080p that’s gets very good reviews. Free Shipping, no Tax… 8)

I won’t have it in hand for another week or so and it’ll require some readjusting of the Man-cave. My 5’4″ x 4′ (4:3) “Screen-Goo” screen probably won’t do for this 16:9 projector. It’s throw distances and height placements are more restrictive than the projectors I’ve used in the past.
I like the center of my screen to be fairly close to or just slightly above eye level when I’m sitting. Because of that, most people think I mount my screen fairly low on the wall. The HC5500 is designed to be placed mid-screen and has a lens shift that allows placement no farther above than the top of the screen or below the bottom of the screen. I won’t be ceiling-mounting this one.
Who knows, when I get it maybe I’ll take some pictures and write up a little review…
