Goal: 2 maybe 3 HTPC and a server.
The living room HTPC will record TV and play BD/DVD
the 2 bedrooms will play all files on the server
Server will hold BD/DVD movies, music, photos
Never built a PC from scratch only minor upgrades
I will build the living room HTPC first using:

I want to be able to hook up straight to AVR via HDMI and then to the LCD also HDMI. The AVR handles all the sound for the living room.
Will this rig handle all my needs?
I was thinking of using sagetv and mediaportal for software… suggestions?
