I am having a weird issue with the guide data in WMC. It is not updating but the issue seems to be that it can not connect to the servers only on my HTPC. When I go to redo setup it hangs on the retrieving information step till I reboot (several hours). If I do a restore to my 5/2 data it works fine and once the restore is done it immediately updates. After some time though the system updates (I know I can turn this off but would prefer not to) and then it can not connect again.

Connecting to the internet is fine and my other PCs download the guide data fine it is only my HTPC effected for some reason. The other PCs have the same updates as far as I know.

I have not had time to trouble shoot it as life is crazy (and not sure if I will have time in the next couple months) so I was wondering if anyone had seen something like this before.

    Thanks in advance

Yes, I have seen it.  Try changing your DNS settings under “Use the following DNS server addresses:” to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.  See if that works.

Got a chance to set this up last night and turned back on updates. After the updates this morning it seems to be working fine. Saved me hours if not days.

        Thanks
