Helping a buddy with his computer – he’s got an HSI 4670 using the included DVI-HDMI adaptor, HDMI cable to his Westinghouse LTV 37-W2 tv.  Win XP and SageTV with SageMC (all updated).

We had played around and used the ATI HDMI sound codec and had sound going to the TV speakers, and sounded good but when he listened the next day at normal levels (were  working on it late at night) he said it sounded sweaky, like chippmunks, and that the cable straight to the tv did not.  He plugged an AV cable from the speaker output to the TV’s AV input next to the HDMI and tried some different codec’s and said it wouldn’t go away.  Any idea what the problem might be?

Also, the tv’s a 720P, and the desktop in XP just doesn’t look crisp.  Its the same resolution as my 32″ westinghouse (mine only has a dvi connection) but the text is off.  I tried playing around with CCC but couldn’t figure it out.

    Thanks,
    Mike
