    Hello All,

I am new to the HTPC realm, and am trying to convince my Wife that this will be a better way of watching TV.

I am currently using some Old PC parts as the HTPC here is a list:

    Motherboard: MSI 865GM3-LS
Processor: P4 2.8Ghz (not dual-core but planning to upgrade)
    Memory: 1GB Geil Dragon DDR2 800
Hard Drive #1: WD 160GB SATA II
Hard Drive #2: WD 400GB SATA II
Optical Drive: Samsung 18x DVD Writer
PVR Tuner: Happauge WinTV-PVR 500 MCE
Video Card: EVGA 7600GS (States HDTV support)
HDTV: Mitsubishi 65″ Model: WS-65908 with VGA connection input
    OS: WinVista 32bit
    Additional Programs: Powerstrip (Latest Version)

Now, I can connect the PC to the HDTV with the VGA port going DVI from card to VGA/DVI adapter to VGA cable in the back of the PC.

I can even see the screen when set to 640×480, looks grainy though, so I was following the guide on ‘Connecting to HDTV using VGA connection’ that was posted on HTPCNews.com awhile ago.

I can get all the way thru choosing the Additional Resolutions, adding the 960x540p resolution using the Powerstrip program, but when following the remaining steps, the resolutions I added are not listed when accessing the ‘List All Modes’ button on the Adaptor settings.

Any Ideas on why they are not being listed?  Can someone here help me get a 1080i desktop image on my HDTV using this HTPC?

Any and All info/help will be of great value, as if I can get this running OK, the WAF will rise and I can start getting better parts (Core2Duo & Motherboard) to improve this build.

    Thanks in advance,

    Mych
