Yesterday I upgraded my son’s computer. I bought an Opteron and ASUS 939 system from someone. After installing his hard drive from his previous system and trying to start up I got a blue screen with some numbers and stuff (that was the 3rd time this week seeing that after trying to do 2 other systems by moving a hard drive from a previous system to a new build). This time I tried something different and that was to do a Repair when I put the Windows disc in instead of a new installation. I really didn’t want to lose all the games and videos he had on his PC if I could help it. To my surprise, after a few error pop-ups during reboots I seem to have gotten most everything ironed out. The biggest problem that I have is a little nagging one. It doesn’t recognize his Microsoft MCE remote any more. It shows “eHome IR receiver” in the Device Manager with a yellow exclamation point. Every time I try to make it find a driver it says not found. The PC is running XP MCE 2005. I thought MCE already had this driver built-in. I only remember running in to a problem when I was running XP Home. The other thing is, it was working before I upgraded the system so I know it should already have the driver somewhere in there. Any help?
