I have done the same thing, but used MC MENDER to get it on the menu (add new entry point).

Works great and was able to add the option to stop video when BOXEE is launched.

One problem I am having is that if I leave BOXEE without EXITING (push green button) Boxee does not exit/quit (it is still running in the background.  If I hit the BOXEE button again it launches another BOXEE instance.
