      I am investigating getting a new HTPC.  My house is already wired for 5.1 surround sound.

      Question: can I get a HTPC with digital sound output and still utilize the wires in my wall?  I really don’t want to buy a separate receiver.  I want to use the HTPC for everything. 

      I saw the Alienware Hangar18 has the typical speaker hook-up like you would find on a receiver.  Can I get something similar from other companies?

      Is it possible to use the outputs on a typical soundcard and use some type of splitter to use the wires in my wall?

      I would really appreciate any help.  Thanks.
