A friend of mine has a rather expensive upconverting DVD player (sorry, I’m not sure of the make/model but I think he paid in excess of $1000 for it). He swears that the picture quality is superior to his cheaper upconverting DVD player.
Assuming the above it true, how would the picture quality of an “upper middle class” HTPC comapare to his high-end DVD player?
If the answer is “not nearly as good as the $1000+ DVD player”, then is there something that can be done with/added to the HTPC such that it would match the picture quality of the high-end DVD player?
